The Lithium Safety Store Features

Below are some of the critical safety features that come with the Lithium Safety Store.

Strong Construction Box

The Lithium Safety Store has been designed with high quality materials. The safety store box has a 1-inch/2.5cm thick wall, which is blast-protected and rigid against fires over 2000°F/1100°C. The UL-94 V-O insulating core ensures that the heat is contained to avoid any further damage to your boat or the surrounding environment. The inner core can also self extinguish in less than 10 seconds once the flame is extinguished without dripping flaming particles.

Kevlar® Armoured Inner Core

Kevlar® is incredibly lightweight but strong, making it ideal for protecting unpredictable materials like lithium or gas liquids. As it is robust and lightweight, it’s no wonder that it is used for other protective applications, such as bulletproof vests and fire protection gloves. You can have peace of mind knowing that your new Lithium Safety Store is equipped with the tools to keep you safe.

Safe Charging and Battery Properties

Batteries can be set on fire in multiple ways, including overcharging, overheating, and more. Lithium fires can be especially dangerous as they can spread quickly, making it difficult to stay in a small space like your boat.

This is why it is imperative to have onboard, either a single or multiple Lithium Safety Store boxes. These are available to order in a variety of sizes to suit your individual requirements, and are primarily designed to keep your batteries safe while they are charging.

Safe and Controlled Ventilation

The box comes with a controlled filtration feature to improve safety in case of a fire. By using Hybrid Active Carbon Gas Adsorption (HCGA) and High-Efficiency Particle Air (HEPA) systems, the box can effectively neutralise toxic fumes. This feature can prevent gas from being trapped inside and decrease the chances of humidity building up.

Easy To Move

The Lithium Safety Storage is designed to be easy to move, so you can quickly remove it in the event of a fire. The box is designed with roller wheels and handles for better ease. Thanks to their heat-blocking properties, you can comfortably pick it up even when it is warm.

Multiple Colours

The Lithium Safety Store comes as standard in high-gloss marine white or is available to order at an additional cost in multiple colours, so you can choose one that matches your boat’s style or has a colour-coded system. The larger of the storage box is also available to order in carbon fibre.

How should lithium batteries be stored on a boat?

For lithium battery safe storage, they should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as extreme temperatures can reduce both performance and lifespan. They should be securely mounted to prevent movement and protect from water and moisture.

The reason why it is so crucial that your lithium batteries are stored correctly is due to the risk of fire, which can have catastrophic effects to yachts and their crew. This is where we come in. Are there any regulations for lithium battery storage on boats?

When it comes to safe storage, lithium battery storage regulations vary by region and country. It’s important to check local maritime lithium battery storage requirements. Compliance with safety standards and guidelines is essential for safe operation. Regular inspections of your lithium batteries should be undertaken due to the dangerous threat of fire they present. When damaged, faulty, or overcharged, the energy can be released very quickly and result in a fire or explosion.
